This section will help prepare you to begin the California Masonic Foundation Scholarship Application. We suggest that you read this information before beginning your Application on the Web.

Information and documents you will need

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your highest SAT or ACT score
  • Your high school cumulative unweighted (on a 4.0 scale) GPA through your junior year
  • Masonic Relative Information: name, birthdate, lodge name and number (if applicable). Additionally, if the relative in question is deceased, please include the date of passing so we can identify their records.
  • Your parents' 2007 Financial Information, Federal 1040 forms, W-2s and/or untaxed household income (Social Security, child support, etc.)

Time

  • It should take about an hour to complete the online Application if you have all the documents and information you need.
  • You don't have to complete the application in one sitting.
  • You can save the application and return at a later time to complete and submit.

Security

  • The information you provide is confidential and will only be used for the purpose of selecting the 2007/08 scholarship winners.
  • We will not share this information with any outside sources. The information that you provide is protected with 128 bit SSL encryption by VeriSign.

Steps to complete the application

  • You will not be allowed to continue if you don't pass the Pre-Application Eligibility Screening.
  • Provide information about yourself.
  • Provide your academic information.
  • Provide your college/university plans.
  • Provide your activities/work information.
  • Provide your Masonic Information (if applicable).
  • Provide your Family Information.
  • Provide your Parent's Financial Information.
  • Review the Completed Application.
  • Submit the Application.
  • You may be contacted after February 15 for additional supporting documents.

Creating your Username and Password

  • Once you pass the initial screening, you will be asked for a username and password.
  • You must create a password and username in order to complete the application.
  • This will allow you to access your application for editing before you submit the final version.

Saving your Application

  • Your application can be saved and retrieved for editing and completion any time prior to February 15, 2008, 5:00 PM (PST).
  • At the end of each section, you will need to click the "Submit" button.
  • Remember to submit the final version of your application before February 15, 2008, 5:00 PM (PST).
  • Applications that are saved but not submitted are not eligible. We do advise you to print the finished application for your records. You will be reminded of this when you submit.
  • After February 15 you will not have access to your application.

Additional Supporting Documents

If you pass our initial selection process, you will be asked to submit some additional documents after February 15, 2008 and before March 15, 2008.

We suggest that you gather these documents so that you will be able to submit them if we contact you.

Because a few of the scholarship awards require an interview, you may also be contacted for an interview in early April.

  • Official High School Transcript that includes your unweighted (4.0 scale) GPA through your junior year.
  • Copy of Parent's 2007 Income Tax Forms 1040s and W2s.
  • Copy of Parent's 2006 Income Tax Forms 1040s and W2s.
  • 1 personal letter of recommendation from an adult friend.
  • 1 academic letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor.
  • FAFSA report (or SAR if you don't have your FAFSA).
  • Personal Essay (1-2 pages).
  • Proof of Citizenship (only if a naturalized citizen).
  • Proof of Masonic Relation and/or Masonic Youth Membership (if applicable).
