Making the world a better place

I forgot my password , can I still access my saved application?

Yes, your username and password can be e-mailed if you forget either one. Return to the Scholarship Center and select the appropriate link near the log-in section of the page. You will be asked to verify your identity using information supplied in the pre-application.

I am a legal resident of California, but my parent is in the military and we're stationed overseas. Am I still eligible?

Yes, but you may be asked to provide proof of California residency (e.g. a copy of your parent’s California state income tax forms).

I have been interviewed for citizenship and was told that I passed, however I have not received my certificate yet. Can I still apply for the scholarship?

Yes, as long as you can provide proof that you are scheduled to be sworn in as a U.S. Citizen.

I don't have a Masonic relative. Can I still apply for the scholarship?

Yes, you should still apply. Applicants are not required to have a Masonic relative.

One of my close relatives is/was a Mason, but I don't know if he is/was a California Mason.

The California Masonic Foundation can check to see if your relative is/was a California Mason. Please make sure you fill out as much of the information in the application as you can. You will not be disqualified if your relative is/was not a California Mason.

How do you determine financial need?

Financial need is determined on a year-to-year basis by the California Masonic Foundation board. There is no specific income level required, so we encourage all students to apply. However, we do ask for full disclosure of family income if applicants pass to the second round of our application process, including a copy of the previous year’s income tax return Form 1040 and W-2 forms.

I no longer live with my parents and am not supported by them. What should I enter in the financial section of the application?

If you are financially independent and are not claimed as a dependent on anyone's income tax forms, enter your own financial information. If you are supported by a legal guardian, please enter her/his financial information.

I already submitted my application, but I made a mistake and need to change some information. What should I do?

If the deadline has not already passed, you may contact the California Masonic Foundation by e-mail to make any changes or corrections.

How will I know if I need to send in additional supporting documents?

Finalists will be sent a letter and/or e-mail requesting supplemental documents, which are required to advance to the second round of the application process. Remember to check your mailbox and/or e-mail inbox in early March. If you are being considered for an award that requires an interview, you will also be contacted to arrange an interview date and time.

My school only puts the weighted GPA on the transcript. What should I do?

Have your counselor or a school official attach a separate signed letter stating your unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. Weighted GPAs will not be considered.
